The Daring Bakers....Tuiles

This month's challenge is brought to us by Karen of Bake My Day and Zorra of 1x umruehren bitte aka Kochtopf. They have chosen Tuiles from The Chocolate Book by Angélique Schmeink and Nougatine and Chocolate Tuiles from Michel Roux.

I am currently on vacation in Rome, but I did make this months challenge recipe. However, I left the Photo Card at home that has all of my pictures on it! I figure instead of elaborating right this second, I will wait until I get home in a few days to post more about it and what I served mine with. Hope you don't mind...I just wanted to make sure I got in n time and got credit!

See you back here in a couple of days when I update this post!

Tuesdays With Dorie...Savory Corn Muffins

The recipe for this week was chosen by Rebecca of Ezra Pound Cake - she chose the Savory Corn and Pepper Muffins. In the Playing Around section of the recipe, Dorie mentions omitting all of the hot stuff - the peppers, the spice, and upping the amount of sugar. This is what I chose to do. I saw in the P & Qs that nearly every other Dorie Baker out there paired these with chili - a great idea. However, I had no reason to make these other than the fact that I am a part of TWD. In all honesty, I did not have any desire whatsoever to make them. At all. I don't like cornbread much...but I did have all of the ingredients on hand, so I made them. As a reward, I took myself to see Twilight. That was worth the effort to make corn muffins I had no intention of eating!

I still don't like cornbread, but I like corn muffins even less. It seemed that mine were already too done at 18 minutes - so I am glad I yanked them out early - but, for me, they were just blahhhh. I won't be making them again, but I do believe that a lot of people may like them, especially with chili. So that was a good idea.

To see all those muffins and all that chili, head on over to the TWD headquarters and scroll through the ginormous blogroll!

Seven. Dancing....

video

Today as I was doing some work on the computer, I heard Seven figure out how to turn on the sound system - and then the CD player - and then change CDs - and finally, get the music to come on. I ignored the music for a couple of minutes, but when I turned around, this is what I saw. It continued for the biggest part of the afternoon, in fact, it caused a nap.

What you are watching is a compilation of the videos I took over the course of the event, set to the music he seemed to like the most. Surely, an unusual choice, but he liked it and so do I. I hope you enjoy watching him as much as I did.

Free Shoes, Anyone??

Not too long ago, as I was going through my normal blog rounds, I noticed a post Jamie did about See Kai Run shoes. Of course, I wanted to win a pair for Seven (I'm a shoe fanatic), so I did everything in my power to win.

But then, well, I just couldn't wait and see. There were WAY too many cute shoes to be had, and even if I did win a pair, ONE measly pair wasn't going to be enough. So I went shopping. As luck would have it, Amazon was having a HUGE sale on See Kai Run shoes. I first ordered the Pauls and the Kensos. They arrived in only 2 days with the free shipping option! As soon as I had them, I LOVED them. It's hard to pick a favorite, but I think I will have to go with the Pauls. The green sueded leather and brown accents seem to go with just about everything I put Seven in. So stylish! The best part, however, is the quality. These aren't your average kids shoe. You see, See Kai Run shoes have been awarded the American Podiatric Medical Association's prestigious Seal of Acceptance. Meaning, they are great for your little one's developing feet, especially new walkers. The soles are sturdy, but flexible, unlike so many shoes I have found out there. I feel good about putting him in something like these.

The same night I received the first two pair, I went ahead and ordered 3 more. Yep, three. The Kian boots (oh, so cute), the Marley's (for the Fall), and the Issacs (for this summer). I just couldn't resist! Here's a pic of Seven in his new Kian Boots - I know they are a little hard to see but believe me when I say - CUTE!!

After loving every pair, I shot off an email to the folks at See Kai Run to let them know how much I loved them...and would you believe that they have offered to give one of my readers a pair of their own?? Well, they have!

So, what do you need to do to win a pair of these great little shoes? Good question. Below you will find a list of ways to enter the giveaway.
